Matty Dzialga had quite a round of golf at Fairview Country Club on Tuesday.
The Brunswick School sophomore shot a sizzling 3-under-par 33 on the front nine, keying the Bruins’ 195-203 win over St. Luke’s School.
“He played a career round,” Bruins coach Jim Stephens said of Dzialga, who earned medalist honors. “That was the best day of golf anyone’s had for us all year so far.”
Dzialga ended his nine-hole round by sinking an eagle putt on No. 9. He also birdied the second and sixth hole. With the win, the Bruins improved their record to 12-2.
Charlie Marvin shot a 39, while Lance Johnson carded a 40 for the Bruins. Alex Rohlf also paced Brunswick, finishing his round with a 41. Jack McGuire shot a 39 for St. Luke’s.
Up next for Brunswick is the Greenwich High School Invitational, which takes place Thursday at Greenwich Country Club. The event is scheduled to commence at 12 p.m. Greenwich High School, Brunswick, Fairfield Prep and Hamden will compete in the tournament.
Last week, Greenwich edged Brunswick by one stroke to win the Brunswick Invitational, which was held at Round Hill Club.
