Hannibal High School’s golf team kicked off its season in winning fashion Wednesday, placing first in a quadrangular meet at The Oaks in Mexico.

Hannibal High School’s golf team kicked off its season in winning fashion Wednesday, placing first in a quadrangular meet at The Oaks in Mexico.

The Pirates prevailed with a team total of 177. Thirteen strokes behind Hannibal was Centralia at 190. The host Bulldogs turned in a total of 215. Also participating in the meet was Louisiana.

Taking medalist honors was Hannibal’s Hunter Parker, who carded a two-over-par 38.

Behind Parker at 42 was teammate Preston Bennett. Also breaking 50 for Hannibal were Gabe Keesey (48) and Courtland Watson (49).

Rounding out Hannibal’s varsity lineup was Tristen Terrill with a 59.

Hannibal’s junior varsity lineup consisted of Cameron Neisen, 59; Hayden Rice, 63; Kolin Westhoff, 64; Drew Tweedy, 64; and Brendan Hess, 65.

Hannibal’s golfers next compete on Monday, March 25, when they host a triangular meet. Scheduled to join the Pirates are Monroe City and Clopton.
