Large Turnout For Memorial Golf Tournament

Nearly 100 people came out to the Adams Country Club Sunday for the ninth annual David G. Towles Memorial Golf Tournament.

Towles was 21 when he died in a car accident in 2009.

He was a member of the South Jefferson Spartan football program and the Watertown Red and Black.

To help keep his name alive, proceeds from the golf tournament go towards helping a graduating senior at South Jefferson.

“We have a scholarship set up in David’s name. Every year, a football players of Coach Aaron River’s choice gets a scholarship from us,” said tournament organizer Jared Cook.

This year, event organizers are also teaming up with Tunes 92.5 for their Christmas Crusade program, which provides gifts for less fortunate children.
