Northwestern Mutual golf tourney supports families affected by childhood cancer

DAKOTA CITY, Iowa – Local golfers were doing more than just working on their drives Friday.

A golf tournament put on by Northwestern Mutual is raising money for families dealing with childhood cancer.

The money will support ‘Alex’s Lemonade Stand’ which helps families like the Kubiks from Sioux City.

Lee Kubik’s daughter, Rosie, has already battled cancer at just two years old and is in remission.

“It’s a good feeling knowing that a local organization back here’s helping out and helping out with our medical expenses, helping with our travel expenses that we’ve had. Pediatric cancer is just a hard thing to deal with no what family’s going through it and it’s knowing that there’s other people on your side with these organizations helping,” said Lee Kubik.

The tournament is going on this evening at Great Dane Golf Course in Dakota City.
